COVID Stories of Care | Embracing Change

Notes from Glenn entering the 21st week of supporting our Clients and Caregivers, with office team & nurses working remotely.

Time for Us to Move On

WFC’s business operation has now evolved to a mostly virtual operation with in-person meetings being handled at the Mamaroneck and Katonah offices in a highly structured manner following CDC guidelines and safety measures. As I’ve recently reported, our team members are appreciating working virtually in the new reality; we are all managing time and workloads with new efficiencies. This cuts across all members of the WFC team – caregivers, nurses, and office staff.

Accordingly, I feel that it’s time to transition this weekly update from having a primary focus on COVID-related developments to one where we offer updates on WFC currents events and advancements in the home care industry as well how WFC continues to handle COVID related changes.

The pandemic has changed so much in the way we operate, the ways in which we are caring for our clients, the way we conduct business and even the way we are networking. Not only have we made technological and process changes, all of us have had to take stock of our state of being. The re-evaluation we’ve made at WFC leads us to continue on our path as a purpose driven business:

Provide peace of mind, confidence and safety to our esteemed senior clients living in their own homes.

Fare Thee Well, Dear Catherine

Speaking of changes and evolving into the next phase of recovery, we sadly announce here that our beloved Catherine Lanza, Director of Business Development, will be moving on to a new role at Home Care of the Rockies in Boulder, Colorado.  In addition to the career opportunity, Catherine is undertaking this relocation to make a Post-COVID quality-of-life change and to be closer to one of her adult daughters.

We are so proud of the work Catherine has done at WFC and look forward to collaborating with her and Sandi McCann, Founder and President at Home Care of the Rockies. Thank you, Catherine, for all the contributions you’ve made to our success. She will be missed by the entire WFC team, by her many colleagues at our partners and by Lisa and myself.  Her last day will be in mid-September.

There’s also story here of how connections and networking impact our business lives today. During our first year, I joined the Home Care CEO Forum, a Mastermind group with CEOs of Independent agencies nationwide.  I have formed many long term business and personal friendships as a results and it has been one of the real bright spots of the industry for me.  One of the first CEOs I met in this group was Sandi McCann as she hosted us at her offices in Boulder a few years ago.

Over the years, Sandi and I have spoken regularly and helped each other by bringing each others’ strengths to assist with our businesses.  I introduced Catherine to Sandi and we have implemented many of Sandi’s ideas from our collaboration to help grow and maintain the WFC business.  I always had a sense down the road and with Catherine’s daughter in Boulder that more might come of the introduction. As Sandi’s business has grown and her team members’ responsibilities have been reorganized it became that opportunity for Catherine to join Home Care of the Rockies as Director of Client Development.  Catherine will be starting in her new role October 1st and we wish her all the best and look forward to continuing the collaboration with WFC and Home Care of the Rockies.

What to Expect from This Weekly Update

As I mentioned, we’ll be transitioning from COVID-centric news to topics that are current and directly relevant to our communities. Mindful that the pandemic is changing people’s attitudes and behavior on any number of issues, we’re confident that the topics will be noteworthy and informative.

One thing we have learned by preparing weekly updates is that connection is so important in an environment of fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Thanks for the feedback and support of our messaging. We aim to strengthen the ties that bring and keep us together with these periodic reviews.  We will also be reorganizing our Blog pages to better present our content and make it more accessible.
