Free NY Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Classes

Westchester Family Care offers an in-person course in New York to kickstart your caregiving career! After completing this course, you will have the opportunity to work directly with clients in the Westchester County, NY area through WFC or another agency.

CNA to HHA Transition Programs

If you are working in a facility and would like to transition to a rewarding and safer working environment, now is your chance.

We are offering free HHA Training and Transition Classes in our Mamaroneck, NY office, to NY and Connecticut Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) and others curious about this rewarding profession.

Earning your HHA Certificate allows you to expand your opportunities to work as an in-home caregiver. You can transition from providing care in a facility to helping patients in the safety of their homes. Work one-on-one with clients and provide needed companionship and personal care.

If you want to care for clients in their homes throughout Westchester County, NY, and lower Fairfield County, CT, this is the opportunity for you!

Restore Your HHA Certification With Our Free Competency Evaluation Classes

Want to provide companionship and personal care to patients in their homes through a licensed agency? Many caregivers have experience as direct hires for private cases, but working with an agency provides more benefits, security, and opportunities to help clients.

Westchester Family Care offers a free, in-person HHA Competency Class for caregivers who have not worked for a licensed in-home care agency for 2 years. If your NY HHA certificate has lapsed, our 2-day class can help fast-track getting your NY HHA certification back. Classes are held at our Mamaroneck location.

Requirements

For CNA to HHA Only: Valid New York or Connecticut State Certified Nurse Aide Certificate is required

Driver’s License and reliable car
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster if eligible
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
Full-time work availability (up to 40hrs/week) upon completion
Prior experience is required
Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
Current physical examination within last 6 months & TB test

What Class is Best For Me?

If you are already a certified NY HHA, you can apply to positions immediately
If you already have a NY HHA certification, but your certification has lapsed, the Home Health Aide (HHA) Competency Class is for you. This is a great opportunity for those who want to transition from providing care and being directly paid by the client to working for an agency with more stability and benefits.
If you already have a valid NY or CT CNA, the NY HHA Transition Class for NY & CT Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) is made for you. Expand your opportunities to provide in-home care to seniors and families living in New York State working for a licensed agency. This is a great opportunity for those who want to transition from a facility to work in a safer in-home care environment.
If you have some experience as a caregiver and are interested in providing in-home care full-time, the NY HHA Training Class will prepare you. Expand on your work experience and get certified to work in the rapidly growing field of in-home care.

Is prior experience required for classes?

Yes. All classes require some previous experience providing care, from working in a facility, being part of another home care agency, or providing informal care as a family caregiver.

Are classes held in-person?

Yes. All classes are held at our Training center in Mamaroneck, NY.
